Could FTC Play Bigger Role in Card Security?

Federal Trade Commission is reviewing how nine qualified security assessors scrutinize merchants’ compliance with Payment Card Industry security standards. FTC issued orders to nine companies that serve as QSAs, asking them to provide information about how they audit merchants. Industry experts say this could be the FTC’s first step toward ensuring all companies are assessed for PCI compliance in the same way.
