The Intelligence Authorization Act for 2015 (HR.R. 4681) is headed for President Obamas desk. The bill includes a new Section 309 that authorizes the acquisition, retention, and dissemination of nonpublic communications, including those to and from U.S. persons private communications obtained without legal process such as a court order or a subpoena. A petition asking Obama to veto the bill still needs 91,222 signatures for a total of 100,000 signatures by January 2015.”]
