The Internet of Things (IoT) Cybersecurity Improvement Act of 2019 was introduced in the Senate on March 11. The bill would set minimum security standards for devices the federal government uses for various projects. Gartner estimates that more than 20 billion internet-connected devices will be online by the end of 2020. The legislation would use the purchasing power of the government to force IoT vendors to adopt security standards so that these safety features would make their way into a variety of different types of devices.”]
