City of Knoxville hit by overnight ransomware attack

The City of Knoxville was the victim of an overnight ransomware attack, city officials say. The attack was first noticed by members of the fire department around 4:30 a.m. Thursday morning. The attackers have requested a ransom payment to free city files they control. No financial or personal information had been accessed or compromised, officials said. The city is operating as normal, though there could be some inconveniences, a spokesman says. The FBI and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation are investigating the attack.”]
