Google has extended Safe Browsing, the technology behind those security alerts, to Android. Chrome for Android is the first to use the technology, and apps are able to use it. The technology protects against websites that are known to host malware, potentially unwanted programs as well as phishing and other scams. Google says it was difficult to implement because mobile data plans have limited bandwidth in some parts of the world.
