China Claims Motorola, Nokia Batteries Explode

Chinese authorities say they have found unsafe batteries in Motorola and Nokia cell phones. Chinese authorities are investigating the June 19 death of a 22-year-old welder who died after his phone apparently exploded. Both handset manufacturers have said they are cooperating with the safety investigation, but claim the batteries are unauthorized copycats. Motorola spokesman: “Preliminary evidence suggests it is highly unlikely that a cell phone caused this accident” The battery safety issue is only the most recent problem to face Chinese-made products.”]
