Caribbean not prepared for cyber-attacks

Curacao Chronicle published an article on September 14, 2016, about Latin American and Caribbean’s Vulnerability to Cyber-Attacks. Here’s a summary:

  • Deloitte’s global chief information officer, Larry Quinlan, stated that although there have been improvements in technology for the Latin American and Caribbean region, they remain highly vulnerable to cyber-attacks.
  • He continued, stating there’s a price to be paid for all unfettered computing, labeling it as cyber-security.
  • It is a concern that cybercrime will continue to grow worldwide. Four of every five countries in the region have no cyber-security strategy or plans for protecting critical infrastructure while two out of every three countries do not have command and control centers for cybersecurity and cannot punish cyber criminals.
  • Many levers can be pulled on the path to promote prosperity through sustainability and national unity.
