Calif. Sues Firm for Peddling Cell Records

The state of California is suing Data Trace USA for $10 million. Florida-based company offers a 24-hour cell phone number retrieval service for $79.99. It requires the cell holders Social Security number, address and full name. The lawsuit seeks to halt this practice, commonly known as pretexting, according to Reuters. Last month, the state of Missouri also filed a lawsuit against the company, also seeking to halt the practice, Reuters reports.”]
