Bug Reporting Could Be a Hot Topic At Black Hat

Security researchers and vendors have been debating over how they report bugs. The Ormandy-Microsoft incident rekindled the debate about when and how bug finders report their discoveries. Microsoft, Google and Mozilla have both pushed for tighter disclosure of bugs in their software. Microsoft has said it wants to change the term “responsible disclosure” to “coordinated disclosure” A security researcher’s post was widely circulated among security researchers, but Microsoft has denied it did anything wrong with the post. A security expert at Black Hat says it’s a good thing to say “responsible” is not a word.”]
