British Prime Minister Suggests Banning Some Online Messaging Apps

Prime Minister David Cameron said he would pursue banning encrypted messaging services if Britains intelligence services were not given increased access to the communications. Comments part of a growing debate in Europe and the U.S. over whether Internet companies must cooperate fully with intelligence agencies. European politicians are demanding that Internet companies like Google and Facebook provide greater information about people’s online activities after several recent terrorist threats, including the attacks in Paris. It remains unclear how the British government could stop people from using these apps, which are used by hundreds of millions of people worldwide.”]
