Blackphone plans more secure devices, bouyed by Snowden leaks

Swiss start-up Blackphone is launching a smartphone with encrypted communications. Blackphone will go on sale in June for US$629. It’s based on a security-hardened version of the OS called “PrivatOS” Blackphone co-founder Jon Callas: “It’s not the only device we will ever do” Callas says he’s seen a recent uptick in interest in Silent Circle’s products after Edward Snowden leaks. He attributes that to the reports on the extent of U.S. and U.K. government surveillance and information sharing.”]
