Maryland’s General Assembly passed legislation that bars employers from asking workers and job seekers for access to their social media accounts as a condition of employment. The bill now has to be signed into law by Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, whose plans are unclear. Facebook says it has seen a “distressing increase” in reports of employers seeking such access to the social network pages of job applicants.
