The Jamaica Gleaner published an article on February 25, 2017, about the Belize Government looking at legislation to tackle Social Media misuse
The Belize government is moving to lesson social media misuse by a task force that will look at cyber laws. It is hoped that this legislation will take at least two or three months before proposal or policy is placed before Cabinet.
Amendments are also being looked into, for example, an amendment for criminal codes for tackling minors being on social media.
The nature of the crime should be such of an indecent nature that it upsets the government into finding laws to address it rather than prosecuting everyone who has bad things to say about other individuals on Facebook or the other social platforms.
