Business Email Compromise (BEC) fraudsters are using “aging reports” to collect money from companies’ unpaid invoices. A new report from security firm Agari shows that business email compromise scams are becoming more ambitious. The U.S. Treasury Department estimates that these schemes are costing $300 million a month. The report also shows that BEC fraudsters use social engineering techniques to steal as many financial documents as possible, according to the report. In November, one of Agari’s customers contacted the firm about suspicious emails sent to the firm’s CFO.”]
