Bank Takes Tough Stand on Fraud

Utah bank cuts off signature-based debit transactions in 3 states. The bank cites “high amounts of fraudulent card activity” in California, Florida and Georgia. Experts say the move shows that banks have ways of combating fraud, even if it’s heavy-handed. The American Bankers Association doesn’t expect the move to become a common practice. But given the bank’s size and cardholder base, the move might make sense, a fraud expert says. “What works for one is not going to work for all,” he says.”]
