AVG to acquire Android security firm

AVG Technologies announced plans to buy out Israel-based start-up DroidSecurity for an undisclosed price by year-end. DroidSecurity was launched last year by CTO Dror Shalev, former architect at Check Point Software. The company estimates that over 4.5 million Android mobile devices have downloaded DroidSecurity’s software. AVG said the acquisition will enable its Mobile Solutions team to further its goals of providing smartphone security, and DroidSecurity indicated there would be work underway to integrate the two companies’ technologies.”]
