Apple Says It Needs the App Store in Order to Protect Consumers From Scams

Lawmakers are proposing new antitrust legislation that would open Apples App Store to third-party app stores. Apple says the legislation would harm consumers, developers and the market writ large. The App Store is currently a big sticking point for lawmakers, who contend that its very existence is anticompetitive.
