Fake iOS Jailbreak Site Lures in Apple Users

A fake website purports to enable iPhone users to download an iOS jailbreak but ultimately prompts them to download a gaming app and conducts click fraud. The fake website centers around a vulnerability called checkm8, which affects hundreds of millions of iPhones and gives attackers system-level access to handsets via an unblockable hack. In reality, the site does not download the jailbreak but instead involves the end user in pay-per-click online advertising fraud. A jailbreak is appealing to users who want to escape Apple s limitations on what apps and code can run on the iPhone.
