App developers not ready for iOS transport security requirements

Apple is expected to enforce stricter security requirements for app communications in iOS. 97 percent of apps surveyed by security firm Appthority didn’t use HTTPS for all of their connections. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook Messenger, Skype, Viber, WhatsApp, Fox News, CNN, BBC, Netflix, ESPN, Hulu, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote among apps that didn’t turn on ATS by the end of this year. Some apps send device IDs, email addresses, physical addresses, zip codes, geolocation information and passwords over unencrypted links.”]
