Malware has been seeded inside what appear to be legitimate apps offered on third-party app stores. The malicious component, nicknamed Kemoge, is also loaded with eight root exploits that target a wide range of Android devices. Users are persuaded to download infected apps, and their devices are probed for software flaws, FireEye researchers say. Google has notified Google about the threat, but it appears to be gone from Google Play, researcher Yulong Zhang wrote.
