Amazon Hit With $885 Million GDPR Fine

Amazon has been fined $885 million under EU’s General Data Protection Regulation. The fine was levied by Luxembourg’s data authority, known as the National Data Protection Commission, aka CNPD, on July 16. Amazon says it plans to appeal the fine and says there has been no data breach and no customer data has been exposed to any third party. Regulators say Amazon’s processing of personal data did not comply with GDPR requirements. The decision could have “considerable implications for personalization practices across the digital economy,” a cybersecurity expert says.”]
