Amazon Comes Under Fire for Facial Recognition Platform

Amazon’s Rekognition platform can identify large numbers of people at once in a single video or still frame. ACLU says it has contracts with two Florida police departments for the technology. ACLU: Rekogenition could be used to identify people on the FBI’s most-wanted list. Amazon says it would suspend its use if the services are abused. ACLU, other privacy advocates say it’s a good tool for law enforcement, but others say it can be used for other good reasons.
