All EU states can take data protection cases against Facebook, says EU court

Decision could lead to an increase in the number of enforcement actions taken against Facebook and other companies that process personal data. Decision follows an attempt by the Belgian data protection regulator to bring enforcement proceedings against Facebook in Belgium. The social media company claimed that only the Irish Data Protection Commissioner (DPC) had the right to take action against Facebook over its cross-border data processing. The opinion, if upheld by the European Court of Justice, is non-binding and could lead new claims against Facebook. The DPC has initiated 83 inquiries into Facebook since 2018.”]
