ACLU Comment on Trump Administration Directive on Border Searches

Customs and Border Protection issued new directive for searching and seizing electronic devices at the border. ACLU: Policy falls far short of what the Constitution requires a search warrant based on probable cause. American Civil Liberties Union: Policy would still enable officers to manually sift through a travelers photos, emails, documents, and other information stored on a device without individualized suspicion of any kind. Congress should continue to press CBP to improve its policy, the ACLU says, and Congress should press it to do so.”]
