Accellion Agrees to $8.1 Million Breach Settlement

Accellion agrees to $8.1 million settlement to resolve class action over breach of its File Transfer Appliance. Plaintiffs won at a California federal court after “arduous, arms-length negotiations,” plaintiffs say. The company denies all of the allegations and any liability and maintains that it did not owe a legal duty of care to the plaintiffs and acted reasonably. Data reported exposed included names, birthdates, Social Security numbers and medical and drivers’ license information. The settlement establishes a non-reversionary cash fund to pay for valid claims, notice and administration costs.”]
