Accellion Agrees to $8.1 Million Breach Settlement

Accellion agrees to $8.1 million settlement over December 2020 cyberattack on File Transfer Appliance. Data exposed included names, birthdates, Social Security numbers and medical and drivers’ license information. Plaintiffs won at a California federal court after “arduous, arms-length negotiations” The settlement establishes a non-reversionary cash fund to pay for valid claims, notice and administration costs. The exact class size is unknown, but includes approximately 9,200,000 Class Members to whom direct notice is being sent.”]
