Attacks against Internet of Things (IoT) devices and networks have been escalating throughout 2018 with 32.7 million IoT attacks having been detected during last year by SonicWall. Phishing saw a decrease in volume with most of the attacks being targeted. The number of IoT attacks increased by 217.5% from the 10.3 million logged in 2017 according to SonicWall’s 2019 Cyber Threat Report. More than 46 percent of global botnets originated from U.S.-based IP addresses, the next closest was China.
