Ziggy Ransomware Gang Offers Refunds to Victims

Ziggy, Fonix, Emotet and others say they’re getting out of the cybercrime business. Ziggy announced in early February they’re ready to refund their victims ransom money. The refund will be calculated based on Bitcoin value on the day of payment. The group is just trying to make money, adding they were selling their home to finance the refunds. The announcement follows vast international law-enforcement efforts aimed at dismantling ransomware operations. The trend is clear: Ransomware affiliates are out of business, analysts say.
