Intel CPUs Vulnerable to Sensitive Data Leakage in NetCAT Attack

A new attack on Intel server-grade processors could allow the leakage of SSH passwords but luckily it s not easy to exploit. The attack, dubbed NetCAT (short for Network Cache Attack), stems from Intel performance-enhancing technology called Data-Direct I/O Technology (DDIO) The issue has a low CVSS base score of 2.6.6; Intel says the issue is mainly due to the confidentiality of the user’s private shell session. The vulnerability (CVE-2019-11184) is not easy and would need a direct network connection to the system.
