Facial Recognition is Here: But Are We Ready?

U.S. citizen MacKenzie Fegan was told to look at a camera at her gate at JFK International Airport. The camera is part of a facial-recognition program first rolled out at JFK in November. The program scans passenger faces and matches them with photos that the government has on file. The EU last week approved a massive biometrics database that combines data from law enforcement, border patrol and more for both EU and non-EU citizens. A CBP spokesperson told Threatpost that when it comes to the programs being used in airports, US citizens should be able to opt out.
