Image sharing site Imgur says 1.7 million user accounts were compromised by a three-year-old data breach in 2014. The image sharing site has never asked for real names, phone numbers, addresses, or any other personally-identifying information. Imgur is yet another company in a series of security breaches that took place years ago but have only come to light in 2017. The company has begun notifying affected users along with enforcing a password change. It’s still unknown how this incident occurred and went unnoticed for roughly three years.
