Atlanta’s Reported Ransomware Bill: Up to $17 Million

Ransomware outbreak left Atlanta’s IT team unable to use its PCs for several days. The city received a ransom demand worth $51,000 in bitcoins to unlock all affected systems, which it reportedly did not pay. Colorado’s Department of Transportation was also hit by SamSam ransomware in late February. Other victims have included Allscripts, Mississippi Valley State University and Mississippi State University.
