Driver Alcohol Detection System for Safety (DADSS) is a five-year, $10 million program supported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and more than a dozen car manufacturers. DADSS envisions technology that could prevent anyone from operating a motor vehicle if their BAC exceeds 0.08%, which is the legal limit in 50 states. The technology will be invisible to drivers, so that sober drivers wouldn’t be inconvenienced. The next stage of prototype development is set to begin in the next month or so.”]
