Researchers have uncovered 7 new transient execution attacks affecting processors from Intel, ARM, and AMD. Transient execution attacks leak otherwise inaccessible information via CPU’s microarchitectural state from instructions which are never committed. Researchers say some of the newly-discovered attacks are mitigated by existing mitigation techniques for Spectre and Meltdown, but others are not. Researchers responsibly disclosed their findings to Intel and ARM, of which Intel and AMD acknowledged the report. The team also said since the vendors are working to address the issues, they decided to hold their proof-of-concept exploits for some time.
