6 things we learned from this year’s security breaches

According to the Open Security Foundation, three out of 10 of the all-time worst security breaches happened this year. 2014 is well on its way to replace 2013 as the highest year on record for exposed records. The average total cost of a data breach increased 15 percent to $3.5 million, and the average cost paid for each lost or stolen record containing sensitive and confidential information increased more than 9 percent from $136 in 2013 to $145 in this years study.
