125,000 Coinbase Users Get False Security Alerts

Bitcoin exchange Coinbase sent false automated security alerts to 125,000 customers late last week. One retiree reportedly offloaded more than $60,000 worth of cryptocurrency assets, CNBC reports. Some affected users received $100 worth of Bitcoin, but that would cost the exchange $12.5 million. The incident could create user trust issues for the U.S.-based exchange, security expert says.
