Tel Aviv University researchers have disclosed details of “severe” design flaws affecting about 100 million Samsung smartphones. The flaws are the result of an analysis of the cryptographic design and implementation of Android’s hardware-backed Keystore in Samsung’s Galaxy S8, S9, S10, S20, S21 flagship devices. The findings are expected to be presented at the USENIX Security Symposium later this August. The issues were addressed via security updates shipped in August and October 2021 for the affected devices.”]
