Zero-Day BIND Flaw Crashes DNS Servers

Internet Systems Consortium issues temporary patch for an as-yet unidentified bug in DNS BIND 9 platform. The issue forces the servers to cache an invalid record and “crashes” servers handling recursive queries. It’s unclear whether the bug is a remote DoS flaw or a denial-of-service issue, expert says. ISC officials had not responded to media inquiries as of this posting, but said the patches would prevent the servers from crashing. The patch basically ensures that the cache doesn’t return the anomalous data and prevents the server crashing.”]
