Younger consumers more likely to fall for tech support con jobs

People between 25 and 34 are more likely to fall for the fake-out as those aged 55 to 64, Ipsos Public Affairs survey finds. The fraudsters typically use an unsolicited phone call or pop-up ad to trick victims into believing their computer is infected. About two-thirds of respondents had encountered a technical support scam, according to the survey. About one in five had been duped — allowed the scammer to continue his or her story — and nearly one in 10 had actually given money to the fraudster.”]
