Yahoo’s secret email scans helped the FBI probe terrorists

The New York Times report says Yahoo was searching for a digital “signature” of a communication method used by a state-sponsored terrorist group. Yahoo called the Reuters report misleading. The report said the email collection is no longer taking place. The company declined to comment on the report, which cited an unnamed government official. It said it was the U.S. Department of Justice, not the National Security Agency, that had obtained a court order forcing Yahoo to comply with the request, the report said.”]
