Worlds largest DDoS attack record broken by a new memcached DDoS attack

Earlier this month a US service provider suffered a 1.7Tbps memcached DDoS attack. Researchers from Cloudflare, Arbor Networks and security firm Qihoo 360 discovered that recently attackers are abusing the Memcached protocol to power so-called Memcrashed DDoS attacks. The attack was based on the same attack vector that made up the Github attack in February, the previous record was 650Gbps attack towards a target in Brazil in 2016, it was a 650Gps attack. The availability online of unsecured. servers will allow threat actors to power similar attacks in the future.”]
