Will Security Worries Propel DNS Into the Cloud?

DNS Security Extensions (DNSSEC) is an emerging Internet standard that prevents spoofing attacks. DNSSEC will prevent cache poisoning attacks, where traffic is redirected from a legitimate Web site to a fake one without the Web site operator or user knowing. Service providers including VeriSign and Afilias plan to announce new managed DNS and related security services. DNS appliance vendor BlueCat Networks is teaming up with Afilas to provide a cloud-based DNS service that can be managed through its Proteus appliances.”]
