Why America is not prepared for a Stuxnet-like cyber attack on the energy grid

The U.S. energy grid is vulnerable to just such an attack, experts warn. Russia attacked Ukraine’s energy grid in December 2016, causing a power outage that lasted about an hour. An attacker able to gain remote access to such equipment can exploit the laws of physics for destructive purposes. An attack would be conceptually similar to that of Stuxnet 2.0, expert Joe Weiss says. A worm that could knock out the energy grid could also cause a “coast-to-coast” blackout, he says.”]
