White House mulls waving cash at businesses to get them to beef up cybersecurity

The White House is considering incentives for businesses to improve cybersecurity. The incentives would be designed to entice critical infrastructure players in particular, such as power plants and water systems, to adopt voluntary standards that are now being drafted by government and industry in response to an executive order from President Barack Obama. The standards will be hammered out by DHS and the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) The bodies will be working with businesses to create a security framework that businesses will adopt on their own volition.”]
