What Does PCI 3.0 Mean to Security Practitioners?

PCI Security Council has introduced some changes in the compliance regulations and has come up with version 3.0 for PCI compliance whose final version is scheduled for release on November 7, 2013. The upgrade adds more flexibility in terms of meeting PCI requirements and how organizations will address the requirements and mitigate risks. The challenge posed by the upgrade is how well equipped you are to embrace the new version. Most security breaches happen due to lack of awareness in the following areas: Security considerations formechanisms such as physical security tokens, smart cards, and for securing authentication methods, other than passwords.
