Warrant let police search online DNA database

In May, genealogy site GEDmatch changed its privacy policy to allow law enforcement access to its DNA database. The policy required users who upload their DNA to explicitly opt in or out of having their profiles used in police investigations. Detective Michael Fields of the Orlando Police Department in Florida won a warrant to search the sites full database. He says he’s now working with the forensic consulting firm Parabon to try to find a DNA match that will lead him to that rapist.”]
