Verizon Communication reported revenue of US$27 billion for the first quarter of 2011, up 0.3 percent from a year earlier. Earnings per share were $0.51, meeting the expectations of analysts polled by Thomson Reuters. Verizon Wireless added 1.8 million customers since the beginning of the year. Verizon’s mobile revenue rose 10.2 percent, to $16.9 billion. Verizon added 207,000 broadband customers and 192,000 Fios television customers during the quarter.
