Threat actors affiliated to the People s Republic of China (PRC) are attempting to compromise and collect COVID-19 information from organizations in the US health care, pharmaceutical, and research industry sectors. The ongoing attacks are currently investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) in a joint public service announcement published today. Today’s warning confirms rumors that US authorities will raise awareness this week that PRC-affiliated threat actors are trying to US-based organizations involved in research. The potential theft of this information jeopardizes the delivery of secure, effective and efficient treatment options.
