Department of Homeland Security bans use of Kaspersky Lab security software on government computers. Decision comes after Senate Intelligence Committee accused Russian antivirus vendor of having ties to Russian government. Agencies have 90 days to remove Kaspersy software from government PCs. Decision is based on the information security risks presented by the use of the software on federal information systems, DHS says. The risk that the Russian government, whether acting on its own or in collaboration, could compromise federal information and information systems directly implicates U.S. national security, experts say.
