US government officials formally accuse the Russian government of authorizing cyberattacks on the Democratic National Committee. Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and the Department of Homeland Security issued a statement that the leaked emails “are intended to interfere with the U.S. election process” The statement did not name any Russian officials specifically. The next question is whether the US will respond with sanctions or counterattacks on Russia in response to the attacks on the DNC is whether it will respond to the leaks or respond with counterattacks.”]
